Is your marriage on the rocks? Have you separated? Are you the only one still standing for your marriage? No matter what the statistics say, you can learn how to save your marriage against all odds with god by your side!
When you’re the only one in the marriage trying to figure out how to save your marriage against all worldly odds, it’s a scary place to be.
It hurts. It’s frightening. It can be hard to breathe. I know. I’ve been there.
Against all worldly statistics, I made it, and so did my marriage.
Chances are, if you are reading this, you are there now where I was not so long ago.
You’re trying to figure out how to save your marriage, and looking for hope, advice, encouragement, and maybe even fellowship with those who are there too. Because really only those in your same shoes could really understand what you are going through.
Maybe your best friends and closest family members are encouraging you to let your spouse go. They love you. But deep inside, you are still standing for your marriage. You don’t want to give up, you want to know how to save your marriage!
When I went through it, I just about lost all hope, BUT, I was blessed with Godly women in my life who I could literally get a hold of almost every second of the day for encouragement and advice on how to walk with God, hand in hand, on this difficult journey.
But you know what their advice was based on?
It was not coming from personal opinion. It was coming from scripture, from the truth. It wasn’t always what I wanted to hear or do. But, I do believe it was the soul reason our marriage was restored.
And…. you know what? There is no quick how to save your marriage fix. It is a process. A long process. It is a series of steps, wins, and sometimes losses. But, as you are growing in how to save your marriage with God, the key is you STAY THE COURSE. It is a marathon. But even Marathons have an ending, and when you cross that finish line you will be victorious if you are crossing with God!
The first thing I say to anyone who is starting out on this particularly tough journey in learning how to save your marriage with God is this: Make your stance known. And, do not budge. Make it known you are staunch in your position to save the marriage. Do not sway. You don’t have to keep bringing it up, but, when it comes up, you CALMLY and as genuinely loving as possible state your position that you are still standing for your marriage.
Are they threatening to hire a lawyer and get papers going? Pray Pray Pray! God answers prayers in what he knows is best for you! So no matter the outcome, you know you are getting what God wants for you! Don’t get caught up in the emotions (I know it is soooo much easier to say than do!) just keep calmly stating your position towards a marriage restored. Being consistent in your position is a constant in a scary time. Your spouse is afraid too believe it or not! Your calm consistent manner towards making it work will be to your benefit.
Did I do all this perfectly when I went through it? Heck no! I’m human. I made mistakes. Big mistakes. I freaked out! But I eventually got it and kept at it. You can too!
The second thing I say to those in these shoes is remember this: Your worth does not come from your spouse (this is especially important for spouses feeling rejected). Your Worth comes from above! Your heavenly father thought you were worth sending his son to die for! No matter what you think you might have done to be in these shoes, YOUR WORTH COMES FROM GOD who loves and adores you! Got it? Good 🙂
This is just the beginning of a long road, but, a most worthy journey to something that I guarantee you will be AMAZING- no matter the outcome!
I am adding a few comforting verses I leaned on during those times below.
John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
1 John 4:4 “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
