Parallel Hearts

Parallel Hearts

From the outside looking in,

she thinks that’s where she could have been.

Standing on the rainy street,

in designer clothing head to feet.

Heading home,

to her million dollar suite.

She looks in to see more.

The baby laughs in total glee,

while her mommy tickles her toes

and kisses her tiny knees.

Her heart aches.

She has “It All”.

But there’s something missing,

and it isn’t small.

A void so deep,

she finally reaches high,

and in this moment,

she begins to cry.

“Lord lead me,

Show me the way.

I need you God.

I know it today!”

It had been years but she opened God’s Book,

and was lead to John 15:7,

where she took a longer look.

If you abide in me,

and my word abides in you,

ask whatever you wish,

and it will be done for you.”

The woman inside put her baby to bed.

She looked in the mirror at her disheveled head.

Tired lines on her face,

dirty dishes in the sink.

The bills piling up,

she began to weep.

Her heart aches.

She has “It All”.

But there’s something missing,

and it isn’t small.

A void so deep,

she finally reaches high,

and in this moment,

she begins to cry.

“Lord lead me,

Show me the way.

I need you God.

I know it today!”

It had been years but she opened God’s Book,

and was lead to the same verse,

where she took a longer look.

“If you abide in me,

and my word abides in you,

ask whatever you wish,

and it will be done for you.”

Both women in parallel dismay,

found life again in him,

on that cold rainy day.
